Employment announcement in Thailand & rise in EV interest
U.S. electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Tesla Inc. website shows, it is ramping up recruiting in Thailand, Southeast Asia’s automotive heartland. The company is looking to employ a business development manager and recruiters.

The employment announcements coincide with a rise in EV interest and demand in Thailand. The main cause behind this is the worries about rising energy costs and government consumer incentives.
Job Listings by Tesla
On its website, it placed job listings. It lists around 20 Bangkok-based positions, including one for a home charging developer. Furthermore, on Monday, a LinkedIn job posting for a charging infrastructure lead was made.
There were further openings for auto mechanics, customer service, and a parts advisor. A Reuters inquiry for comment received no immediate response from Tesla.
However the government has been encouraging the sale of electric vehicles. Thailand is not currently anticipated, a Tesla production location. Although there are rumors the business may open official dealerships.
Thailand’s position and offer made by Chinese automakers
For businesses like Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Thailand is the fourth-largest car assembly and export center in Asia. Every year, it manufactures between 1.5 million and 2 million automobile. Only half of them are exported.
A key component of the Thai government’s aim to maintain its position as the leading regional carmaker is to increase domestic demand for EVs. By 2030, the government wants to produce 725,000 EVs annually, or 30% of all new cars.
Chinese automakers have started offering EVs for sale in Thailand at what consumers consider to be reasonable pricing. At the yearly auto exhibition, Great Wall Motors debuted the ORA Good Cat model for 828,500 baht ($22,600). Great Wall Motors says, the vehicle will be manufactured in Thailand in 2024.
China’s Hozon Auto debuted the NETA V last month for 549,000 baht ($15,000), which is comparable to the starting price of conventional autos. In the meanwhile, Joko Widodo, the president of Indonesia, invited Tesla. The invitation welcomes Tesla to produce its vehicles and batteries in his nation in August.Â
