Both Ryne Nelson of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Hunter Brown of the
Houston Astros made their major league debuts on Monday
Nelson allowed only four hits during seven shutout innings,
struck out seven hitters, and retired 17 in a row at one point
Brown struck out five batters in six shutout innings of work, allowing only three hits and one walk.
It was the first occasion in the modern period when two pitchers made their Major League Baseball debut on the same day
Nelson said he was quite anxious before his first game, but immediately settled down.
