You can now subscribe to select add-ons on YouTube TV without having a basic plan.

TV on demand is a hoax. The idea that you could pay for and subscribe to particular channels

is simply something that the people in charge of the money will never permit. The closest we'll come is with a

service like Sling TV, which offers more affordable subscriptions with a wide variety of add-ons that you can mix and match.

However, YouTube TV is now taking a somewhat different approach by allowing you to subscribe to a

variety of networks separately from the $65 per month main YouTube TV subscription.

These aren't linear channels, to be clear. You can choose to purchase optional add-ons separately.

For example, you are not choosing to purchase Comedy Central, TBS, and AMC separately for $5 each or anything.
