For the Eagles, DeVonta Smith "needs to touch the ball"
A.J. the wide receiver In his first game for Philadelphia, Brown caught 10 catches for 155 yards in a 38-35 victory over the Detroit Lions for the Eagles on Sunday.
However, DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia's top receiver from the previous season, failed to make a catch during the contest.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni projected what Philadelphia
supporters could be thinking: "AJ had this great game, and DeVonta didn't touch the ball at all." "Oh my gosh, DeVonta Smith won't ever be used again.
"That isn't the case, I can assure you of that. It just so happened that he didn't receive any touches, and it's my responsibility to make sure that he does.
He, A.J., and (tight end) Dallas (Goedert) are who the offence will run through and who the pass offence will run through. We'll correct that. Smith did
catch a pass for 11 yards in the first quarter, but the play was called back because Philadelphia was penalised for holding. Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for
the Eagles, attempted to connect with Smith four more times but failed. The only players in the NFL who were targeted at least four times in Week 1 of the 2022
campaign were Smith and wide receiver Isaiah Likely of the Baltimore Ravens. In a 28-23 loss to the New York Giants on November 6, 2016, Smith became the
first Philadelphia player since wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham to be thrown to at least four times without making a reception.
