Nikola Jokic sits out Nuggets' game against Pelicans with right calf injury

Nikola Jokic, the star center for the Denver Nuggets, sat out the team's game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night due to a right calf injury.

Jokic had been dealing with the injury for several days and was considered a game-time decision prior to tip-off.

The reigning NBA MVP is averaging 26.3 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game this season, leading the Nuggets to a 30-19 record and a spot in the Western Conference playoff race.

Without Jokic, the Nuggets struggled to find their rhythm on offense, falling to the Pelicans by a score of 113-108.

Denver will hope to have Jokic back in the lineup soon, as they continue their push for a high seed in the playoffs.

The team has several key games remaining on their schedule, including matchups against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Jokic's absence could be felt in those games, as he has been the engine that drives Denver's success this season.

The Nuggets will need their supporting cast to step up in his absence, particularly Michael Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon, and Jamal Murray.
