Release date and review of Onniyin Selvan 2 Updates in real-time: Mani Ratnam’s film based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s five-part novel series stars Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Vikram.
Ponniyin Selvan 2, the second installment of Mani Ratnam’s epic work, is presented in theatres. Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Prabhu, Rahman, R Sarathkumar, Parthiban, and Vikram Prabhu reprise their roles in the sequel to the epic drama about the Chola Dynasty. The film is based on the same-named five-part novel series by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 covered one-third of the novel series, with the remainder to be revealed in the second installment.

According to the trailer for Ponniyin Selvan 2, Vikram’s Karikalan is offered half of the Chola empire. At the same time, a new crown prince is declared for the other half following the supposed death of Ponniyin Selvan. However, the titular character, played by Jayam Ravi, is shown to be alive.
Ponniyin Selvan 1 was met with mixed reactions. However, the film did exceptionally well at the box office, grossing over Rs 480 crore worldwide.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 is Mani Ratnam and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s sixth collaboration, following Iruvar, Guru, Ravan, and Ponniyin Selvan 1.
During a press conference, when asked if Aishwarya is his lucky charm, the filmmaker stated, “Filmmakers are very selfish people.” The only thing they care about is the picture, and they are completely cold and greedy. I only ask her whether she is right for the job, no matter how much I adore her. I’ve asked her every time because I thought she was perfect for the job, and she’s always been kind enough to say yes. So she is more than just a lucky charm for me; her talent and personality were ideal for portraying this character.
