Story and Performances
Bhimaa (Gopichand) is a playful cop who falls for Vidya (Malavika Sharma). On the other hand, Vidya had a lot of respect for Ravindra Varma (Nasser), an Ayurvedic doctor. One day, Ravindra Varma asks Bhimaa for a tiny favor, and the latter compels the love of Vidya, resulting in huge trouble. That issue and how Bhimaa got out of it is the central theme of Gopichand’s Bhimaa movie.
Gopichand’s tall personality makes him an excellent choice for the cop position. However, how he is forced to overact in the early part of the picture appears ignorant. Gopichand, in a fresh look, handles the action scenes admirably and shines as the film progresses into a more serious tone. He excels at action dramas and gives them his all.
Malavika Sharma’s performance as a schoolteacher is exaggerated in the film’s first half, but her role makes sense in the final half hour. Nasser now plays similar typical roles in most of his movies, and Bhimaa is no exception. The other lead, Priya Bhavani Shankar, needs more use in her role.
Bollywood actor Mukesh Tiwari plays the villain horribly and hams it up like there’s no tomorrow. Raghu Babu, Chammak Chandra, and the cop gang serve only as fillers.
Bhimaa Movie Story Analysis
Bhimaa follows the everyday route of a punctual and ethical police officer as he investigates incidents happening in the town of Mahendragiri. Throughout, he faces numerous challenges and enemies while assuring the protection of his loved ones. Gopichand is known for selecting regular subjects and does the same with Bhima. Harsha, a Kannada director, drove this cop drama, which only starts to take off in the latter half hour.
To put things up, the director ignores the issue and introduces funny and silly scenes. Gopcihand’s interaction with his cops and how he taunts Malavika Sharma are exaggerated. Director Harsha begins the film on a spectacular note, depicting the origin of Parasuramuni Kshetram in a captivating manner. But after that, Bhimaa deteriorates. The pre-interval episode introduces a twist, and things begin to make sense. This sets the tone for a better second half.
The constantly changing scenes appear good at first but become quite confusing after a while. If the first half is filled with immature comedy and routine cop scenes, the second half falls short regarding confrontation and conflict resolution. After this, the flashback scene takes a surprise turn, enhancing the excitement as the tension rises during the pre-climax and climax scenes. However, the scenario becomes entirely predictable, and the screenplay and direction appear below standard. The film’s well-handled climax serves as its one real redeeming feature.
Overall, Bhimaa is a commercial picture with a unique perspective on fantasy that is well-told. To really enjoy this, one must sit through the tedious first half. Well, Gopichand will have to wait some more time to score a hit, and the manner in which he selects his directors will make it even more difficult for him in the coming days.
