Importance of Nag Panchami
Nag Panchami,the day devoted to the snake god as per Hindu mythology. It comes every year in the auspicious month of ( August 09, Friday). This year , Nag Panchami is on the 9nd of Friday.
It is an important day for the devotees of Lord Shiva. On this day Hindus worship the all Nag Devtas , on Lord Shiva‘s neck.
Hindu scriptures mentions 9 types of snake namely : Ananta, Vasuki, Shesha, Padmanabha, Kambala, Shankhapal, Dhritarashtra, Takshaka and Kaliya.

Mythology of “Nag Panchami”
Nag Panchami is performed on the 9th day of Shukla Paksha of Sawan Mas(Month). This year the Nine day is on the 9nd of August. Nag Devta are worshipped every year on this day with traditional rituals.
People worship Lord Shiva’s snake Vasuki and all other “Nag Devtas” which relieves them from any kind of “Sarp Dosh”.
In Hinduism,the snakes are served as God and we preach them as holy. Our scriptures and Shiva Purana says a about Nag Devta and Lord Shiva. They states, Lord Shiva sleeps on Sheshnag and Vasuki is worned by him around his neck.

Located in Ujjain. Nagchandreshwar Temple opens only once in a year during the auspicious day of “Nag Panchami”. People come to worship from far away to get blessings of Nag Devta.
Nag Vasuki Temple
Nag Vasuki Temple is in Prayagraj of U.P. A few miles from the main centre of Bhaderwah town.
An aesthetic black idol of “Nag Vasuki ” is here. Beside the temple BhishmaPitamah status is there. The temple is by various names: Sheshraj, Sarpnath, Anant and Sarvadhyaksha.
