According to China, numerous batches of H-6K fighters carrying live
ammo.. conducted repeated waves of simulated strikes on strategic
locations on Taiwan Island.
On Monday, China simulated “closing off” Taiwan during the third day
of wargames surrounding the self-ruled island, while the US
dispatched a navy destroyer into Beijing-claimed seas in a show of
force.

China started the drills in reply to Taiwan President Tsai Ing-meeting
wen’s with US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy last week, which it had
warned would result in a violent reaction.
The Chinese military claimed the wargames involved “closing” the
island off after two days of drills that included simulating targeted
strikes on Taiwan and also encirclement of the island.
According to the military, 1 of China’s 2 aircraft carriers “participated in
today’s drill.”
The United States, which has frequently urged China to exercise
prudence, sailed the guided-missile destroyer USS Milius through
disputed areas of the South China Sea on Monday.
The US Navy stated in a statement, “This freedom of navigation
mission defended the freedoms, rights, and legitimate uses of the
sea.”
It went on to say that the ship had sailed close to the Spratly Islands,
an archipelago claimed by China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia,
Vietnam, and Brunei. Taiwan is approximately 1,300 kilometers (800
miles) away.
China reacted angrily to the Milius’ deployment, claiming that the
warship was “illegally entered” into its territorial seas.
