Baramati, January 28, 2026: A private aircraft carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar crashed while landing at Baramati airport on Wednesday morning, triggering a major emergency response. Visuals circulating from the site showed the aircraft’s wreckage scattered across the area, with flames and thick smoke rising moments after impact.
According to preliminary information shared by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the jet crash-landed during approach. The regulator said five people were on board, including crew members, and added that initial reports suggest no survivors. Authorities stressed that details are still being verified.

Ajit Pawar’s schedule before the incident
Ajit Pawar was in Mumbai on Tuesday, where he attended a meeting of the Maharashtra Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He was scheduled to address a public meeting in Baramati later on Wednesday and had departed Mumbai earlier in the morning.
