Arvind Kejriwal ED case update: ED has detained Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi. This was for accusations of corruption regarding the city’s liquor policy. This occurred with less than three weeks remaining until the country’s Lok Sabha elections. After the Enforcement Directorate’s custody of Kejriwal ended, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja received him.
The investigating agency placed Kejriwal under 15 days of judicial detention. In representing the ED, Additional Solicitor General S. V. Raju claimed that the leader of the AAP had been “evasive” with the replies and “non-cooperative” during the custody period. “He has deliberately not given passwords to the electronic devices,” Raju said.
Before going into court, the AAP leader told reporters that “whatever the prime minister is doing” (referring to his arrest) is terrible for the nation.
In court were AAP ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Sunita Kejriwal, Kejriwal’s wife.
In the meantime, a plea asking the Delhi High Court to stop the Chief Minister from giving instructions while under the arrest of the ED in connection with the money laundering case was denied.
The court ordered central agency to send note to involved judge who is currently hearing the excise policy case. Alongside ordering the judge to issue necessary instructions in compliance with the law.
Further, court says, judge will issue the necessary orders in compliance with the law. This court orders respondent number 2 (ED) to bring its remarks to his attention. The court said in its ruling, “It is clarified that this court has not commented on the locus standi of the petition, and that same is left open.”Â
The ED informed the court that it does not give the chief minister the power or infrastructure to issue orders.
