A luxury gated community, Prestige Falcon City, on Kanakapura Road, is also bearing the impact of Bengaluru’s water crisis. Home to about 14 million people, thousands of startups and international firms from Walmart to Alphabet’s Google, the city has banned gardening, car washing, water fountains, construction and even imposed fines of up to Rs 5,000 to battle the crisis.

Society residents use cutlery and disposable plates to reduce water usage; the situation has forced many citizens to line up at the nearby Forum Mall to use its washrooms.

Reddit Post Updating On Bangalore Water Crisis

A Reddit post gives information on the situation of residents. Prestige Falcon City resident and Reddit user “Familiar-Art-8675” claimed that the community has not received regular, round-the-clock water supply for over a month.

The Reddit user claims that several residents have vacated their apartments while others have moved to stay in other places temporarily. Those with no choice have been using disposable plates to eat their food or ordering food to cut down the use of water for washing utensils and cooking food.

You get to smell the stink of unflushed human excreta from far away in toilet bowls. “It is not uncommon to see that the residents are in a line going to the nearby Forum Mall to use washrooms.” The Reddit user claimed that some people have been going to their gyms with towels and a spare change of clothes so they can bathe and come back.

The situation could be better for many people who are paying EMIs on home loans worth more than Rs 1 crore, and in return, they do not receive basic facilities.

The president of Prestige Falcon City’s residents’ association, Vasanth Kumar, said: “We have asked our residents to do all they can do to conserve water because we still have about four months to go till the monsoon arrives, and we have to use water sensibly.”
