BMC Election 2026 Winner List: The race for control of India’s richest civic body is heating up as counting continues for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections. Early trends on Friday afternoon show the Bharatiya Janata Party emerging as the single-largest party, with the ruling Mahayuti alliance gaining an edge across Mumbai’s 227 wards.
Polling, held after a four-year delay, recorded a voter turnout of 52.94%, reflecting steady participation despite political fatigue and urban apathy concerns.
BJP Ahead, Shiv Sena (UBT) Close Behind
As per trends available till 3 pm, the BJP was leading in 88 wards, putting it in pole position to shape the next BMC leadership. The Shiv Sena (UBT) followed closely with 74 leads, signalling a tight fight in several key pockets of the city.
The Shiv Sena, led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, was ahead in 28 wards. The Indian National Congress managed leads in eight wards, while the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena was leading in seven.

The State Election Commission has begun declaring results ward by ward. Below is the list of winners announced so far, arranged by ward number:

Results Put on Hold in Two Wards
Counting has been temporarily paused in two wards following complaints and technical issues.
- Ward 185: The result has been put on hold after an EVM-related error was reported. BJP candidate Ravi Raja is currently trailing Shiv Sena (UBT) nominee T M Jagdish after Round 4. The State Election Commission is expected to issue fresh directions.
- Ward 72: Counting has been withheld after objections raised by Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Manisha Panchal over alleged irregularities.

What’s Next
Along with Mumbai, civic polls were conducted for 28 other municipal corporations across Maharashtra. Final results for all civic bodies are expected to be declared by Friday evening.
With the BJP leading but short of a clear sweep, alliance math and post-result negotiations could play a decisive role in determining who finally controls Mumbai’s civic administration.
