The Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) Jury is made up of Indian automotive journalists from journals, newspapers, and other media outlets such as Auto Today. The ICOTY Jury for 2024 has 18 journalists, including Yogendra Pratap, Editor of Auto Today, and Rahul Ghosh, Associate Editor of Auto Today. Each jury member evaluates these vehicles and has a total of 25 points to give. No automobile can be given more than 10 points by a jury member, with the 25 points shared among five competitors and one obvious winner, making the procedure transparent and preventing the possibility of any one jury member influencing the award.

“I would like to thank the ICOTY jury members for recognizing the BMW 7 as the clear winner that it is,” stated Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India, after winning the Premium Car of the Year 2024 title. The seventh generation of the BMW 7 Series is a symbol of ‘Forwardism,’ a trait that distinguishes individuals who influence what comes next. The new 7 is the face of a new luxury class that dazzles with its presence, progressiveness, and passion. It is a message suited for progressive leaders, a work of art that will captivate people tomorrow and beyond.”

The BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X1, Lexus RX, Lexus LX, Volvo C40 Recharge, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Land Rover Range Rover Sport were among the eight nominees for the ICOTY Premium Car award 2024. The Mercedes-Benz GLC finished as the runner-up, followed by the BMW X1 as the second runner-up.

BMW introduced the 7 Series in India earlier this year, along with its all-electric sibling, the BMW i7. The automobile is now available in both petrol and diesel versions – 740i M Sport and 740d M Sport. The premium sedan boasts a striking outward design that is accompanied with an immersive interior experience, the centerpiece of which is the huge 8K roof-mounted display.
