ChatGPT introduces the “Read Aloud” Feature

OpenAI introduces a new “Read Aloud” feature in the ChatGPT, allowing it to read responses in five different voices. The Read Aloud feature is available in 37 other languages. It can automatically detect the language of the conversation to give the appropriate output.

ChatGPT launched a voice chat feature in September 2023, which allows users to communicate with the chatbot using voice, and the chatbot has improved since then.

OpenAI posted on X and announced that ChatGPT can now read your responses. For Android phones or iOS devices, tap and hold the message and then tap “Read Aloud”. We’ve also started rolling it on the web – click the “Read Aloud” button below the message to use it.

OpenAI is testing the option to set ChatGPT as the default digital assistant on Android phones. Soon, users may be able to use the AI chatbot on their phone using the power button, where users can ask their queries using voice and get the response in a verbal form using the Read Aloud feature.

How to use ChatGPT read aloud feature?

1. Open ChatGPT on your Android phone, iOS device or browser.
2. Input the text prompt in a language of your choice.
3. Wait for GPT to generate a response to your prompt.
4. Tap and hold the response of ChatGPT, then select the “Read Aloud” option.
5. A Read Aloud player will appear at the top of the screen where users can control playing, pausing, rewinding, or fast-forwarding verbal responses from ChatGPT according to their preferences.

This feature is mainly for the user who prefers listing the responses to their questions.

Read Aloud is not only for premium users; GPT 3.5 users can also use it without paying any charges. The Read Aloud feature is slowly rolling out by OpenAI to everyone, but it may take time before it appears on your account.
