A sudden Cloudflare outage on Thursday afternoon briefly knocked major Indian trading platforms and several global internet services offline, leaving users scrambling as logins failed and orders got stuck. The disruption lasted only a few minutes, but it was enough to spark concerns during active market hours.
Trading Apps Face Glitches Mid-Session
Users of Zerodha, Angel One, Groww and other brokers reported issues accessing charts, placing trades, and pulling real-time market data. Since many of these platforms rely heavily on Cloudflare’s network for APIs, routing, and security layers, even a minor fault can cause widespread latency and connectivity drops.

Social media quickly filled with complaints as traders saw delayed order execution and intermittent errors. For many, the apps simply refused to load.
Platforms began stabilising within minutes as fixes rolled out in real time, though most brokers continued monitoring their systems for any lingering issues.
Not Just Brokers — AI Tools, Travel Apps & More Affected
The outage didn’t stop at trading platforms. Popular services such as Claude (AI chatbot), Perplexity, MakeMyTrip and several enterprise applications relying on Cloudflare infrastructure also faced temporary downtime.
Given Cloudflare’s massive footprint — powering content delivery, security, DNS, and traffic management for countless websites — even a short disruption can ripple across the internet almost instantly.
A Repeat of Last Month’s Internet-Wide Breakdown
This is Cloudflare’s second major incident in recent months. In the earlier outage, a technical glitch pulled down huge chunks of the internet, affecting platforms like X, ChatGPT, Letterboxd and even Downdetector, which ironically depends on Cloudflare itself.
That episode lasted longer and triggered global slowdowns, highlighting how deeply the modern web leans on Cloudflare to stay stable and secure.
Cloudflare Confirms Systems Restored
In its official status update, Cloudflare said all services are now fully restored after a 12-minute disruption affecting the Dashboard and related APIs.
The issue began at 08:56 UTC (2:26 pm IST) and was fixed by 09:12 UTC (2:42 pm IST). The company said it is monitoring systems to ensure no residual impact remains.

Why Cloudflare Outages Hit So Hard
Cloudflare essentially acts as a backbone for much of the internet. It handles:
- Content delivery
- Protection against cyberattacks
- Load balancing
- Traffic routing
- Website uptime during heavy demand
When anything goes wrong in this chain, the effects cascade quickly across unrelated services — from fintech and e-commerce to entertainment and enterprise tools.
Today’s outage may have been short, but it was a reminder of how interconnected the internet has become — and how a few seconds of downtime at the infrastructure level can disrupt millions of users globally.
