India’s strong showing in women’s cricket continues to reflect on the ICC rankings. Star all-rounder Deepti Sharma has climbed to the No.1 position in the T20I bowling rankings for the first time in her career, while vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has slipped from the top spot in the ODI batting charts.
The latest update underlines a changing landscape in women’s international cricket, with standout performances across formats reshaping the pecking order.
Deepti Sharma hits career milestone in T20Is
Deepti, who was India’s Player of the Series at the Women’s World Cup 2025, has dethroned Australia’s Annabel Sutherland to become the world’s leading T20I bowler. The Indian off-spinner now has 737 rating points, edging past Sutherland by a single point.

Her rise was boosted by a disciplined spell in the opening T20I against Sri Lanka on December 21, where she picked up a wicket, conceded just 20 runs in four overs and bowled a maiden. Known for her control and calm under pressure, Deepti’s consistency has finally translated into the top ranking.
Jemimah Rodrigues makes big jump
India also saw gains in the T20I batting rankings, with Jemimah Rodrigues moving up five places to ninth. The jump came after her unbeaten 69 off 44 balls in the successful chase of 122 in Visakhapatnam, an innings that once again highlighted her growing maturity in the shortest format.
Rodrigues’ rise saw her move ahead of teammate Shafali Verma, adding further depth to India’s batting rankings.
Laura Wolvaardt overtakes Mandhana in ODIs
While India celebrated Deepti’s rise, there was a setback in the ODI batting charts. South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has overtaken Mandhana to become the No.1 ranked ODI batter.
Wolvaardt now holds 820 rating points, nine more than Mandhana. The 26-year-old has been in sublime form against Ireland, smashing back-to-back centuries. She has also gone past Mandhana in total ODI runs, with 5,477 runs from 122 matches at an average of 52.16, including 13 hundreds and 38 fifties. Only Mandhana (14) and former Australia skipper Meg Lanning (15) have more ODI centuries in women’s cricket.

South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp slipped one place to third with 415 points, while West Indies star Hayley Matthews moved up to second on 420 points. Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner continues to dominate the list with 498 points. Deepti remains fourth, just ahead of Sutherland.
In the ODI bowling rankings, Kapp also dropped to third. Australia spinner Alana King climbed to second, while England’s Sophie Ecclestone retains her place at the top.
