The Black Adam actor said in the video that he had a quarrel with his father around Christmas 2019 and that his father died three weeks later.
Dwayne Johnson has spoken up about his “complicated” and “tough love” relationship with his late father Rocky, who died a few weeks after a fierce confrontation with the wrestler-turned-actor in 2019 when the two were not on speaking terms.
“Do your best to come to terms because the alternative is that something could happen and you’ll find yourself writing the eulogy for your father’s funeral, as I did.” I awoke one day to find him gone, and I had to write and deliver his eulogy. “I don’t want that for you guys,” an emotional Johnson stated in a Father’s Day Instagram video.
“I wish he could be here one more time so I could tell him, ‘Hey, I love you, happy Father’s Day, thank you for growing me with the capacity you did have, even if it was complicated and we fought.'” But we don’t have that luxury,” the actor remarked, empathizing with all the guys who would be without their fathers on Father’s Day.

“There are a lot of guys out there, including myself, who had a difficult, complicated relationship with our fathers.” I had that with my grandfather, and I’m sure many of you had as well. So it’s complicated because they’re not here right now, and we wish they were,” Johnson said in the video.
“I had the biggest fight with my grandfather during Christmas 2019, the biggest fight I’ve ever had with him in my life, and his as well.” We had a fight. We weren’t talking, or I wasn’t talking, and three weeks later he died, and that was the end of it. I never got to say goodbye, and I never got to reflect on what we were going through. “I’m getting goosebumps right now,” the 51-year-old said.
The Jungle Cruise star urged fans who had difficult connections with their fathers to try to reconcile and fix their issues. “If you have the chance, if your grandfather is still alive, and if you have the chance to reconcile it.”
