The Delhi Police has proposed that the Delhi Chief Secretary proclaim a public holiday on these three days for the G-20 Summit in New Delhi and that those commercial and business institutions stay closed in ‘restricted zones’.
Due to the G-20 Summit, the Delhi government will close all schools, workplaces, and NDMC market areas from September 8 to 10. The Delhi Police has proposed that the Delhi Chief Secretary proclaim a public holiday on these three days for the G-20 Summit in New Delhi and that those commercial and business institutions stay closed in ‘restricted zones’.
Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, has accepted the plan, which will now be given to the Delhi LG.
According to India Today, September 7 is a gazetted holiday, but September 9 is the second Saturday, hence only September 10, Friday, will be a school holiday.
On these dates, all schools and government offices, including MCD offices, will be closed.
The choice is made with the VIP movements and route plans in mind. The key issue is that ordinary people should not encounter unreasonable difficulties in commuting as a result of these limitations.
During this time, all private offices and institutions will be closed. Banks and financial institutions in the New Delhi area of the Delhi Police will stay closed. The government has already announced the closure of shops and business establishments in Delhi Police’s New Delhi area.
Last week, Special Police Commissioner Madhup Tiwari of the Delhi Police wrote to the chief secretary, requesting that the government declare a public holiday from September 8 to 10 and issue directives for the closure of commercial establishments primarily in the New Delhi area in anticipation of the G20 Summit.
