Infinix has confirmed that its upcoming Note Edge smartphone will launch globally on January 19, and it’s bringing a couple of industry firsts along with it. The phone will be the first smartphone powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 7100 and will also ship with Android 16-based XOS 16 out of the box.
The announcement places Infinix among the earliest brands to roll out next-generation hardware and software together, targeting users who want updated specs without paying flagship prices.

First phone with MediaTek Dimensity 7100
The Infinix Note Edge will be the first device globally to run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7100 chipset, which was introduced last month as the successor to the Dimensity 7050.
The processor features an octa-core setup with four Arm Cortex-A78 cores clocked up to 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz. Graphics duties are handled by the Arm Mali-G610 GPU.
Infinix claims the chipset is capable of delivering smooth gaming performance, with support for gameplay up to 90fps. Popular titles like PUBG: Battlegrounds, known as Battlegrounds Mobile India in India, are expected to run at 60fps on the device.
Android 16-based XOS 16 to debut with Note Edge
Alongside the new chipset, the Note Edge will also introduce XOS 16, Infinix’s custom interface built on Android 16. This makes it the first smartphone to launch with Android 16 pre-installed.
XOS 16 brings a refreshed visual design focused on smoother animations, lighter UI elements, and improved responsiveness. Infinix has teased semi-transparent menus, new system animations, and 3D spatial wallpapers aimed at giving the interface a more modern feel.

India launch still unconfirmed
While the global launch date is now official, Infinix has not yet announced when the Note Edge will arrive in India. Given the brand’s strong presence in the Indian mid-range smartphone segment, an India launch is expected, though the timeline remains unclear.
More details around design, camera hardware, display specifications, and pricing are likely to be revealed through teasers in the days leading up to the January 19 launch.
