The iPhone 16 release date is far too distant, approaching a year. However, rumors concerning the next-generation iPhones have been circulating for some time. The iPhone 16 series is expected to include larger screens, enhanced design, a better camera, a new CPU, and other features. Here’s what leaks have revealed thus far regarding 2024 iPhones.
Display
The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have a 6.9-inch screen. Users expecting a size increase in the basic iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus may be disappointed, as both models are expected to retain the same screen proportions as its predecessors – 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens, respectively.

According to rumors, the future iPhones would use Samsung-supplied OLED technology, perhaps replacing blue fluorescent technology with blue phosphorescence to improve battery efficiency. There’s even talk of using Micro LED display technology, which promises increased brightness and color while conserving electricity.
Design
According to leaks, solid-state buttons may appear on next year’s iPhone models. In the iPhone 16 Pro models, Apple may refer to it as the “Capture button.” They are described as capacitive buttons rather than traditional mechanical ones and are meant to detect pressure and contact while providing haptic feedback via built-in haptic engines, akin to the Home button on the iPhone SE series.
Chipset
The chipset used in the basic iPhone 16 is yet unknown. There are claims that it will use the A17 Pro chip from the iPhone 15 Pro models, although Apple may also elect to sell a 3-nanometer A18 CPU for the 2024 normal iPhones. A more powerful version of the same processor might be used in the iPhone 16 Pro variants. More information on the iPhone 16’s processor is expected in the next year.
Camera
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are said to include a “tetra-prism” telephoto camera, with optical zoom increasing from 3x to 5x for crisper and more detailed photographs. According to Jeff Pu, a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera for the iPhone 16 Pro series would improve low-light performance. Apple is apparently considering a layered architecture for the Pro models in order to boost light capture and expand dynamic range, perhaps considerably improving Night Mode capabilities.
