Apple may still be months away from unveiling its 2026 Pro iPhones, but early leaks around the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are already fuelling excitement. From a cleaner front design and advanced camera hardware to a major leap in chip technology, the next Pro models are shaping up to be one of the biggest upgrades in recent years.
If the leaks hold true, users weighing whether to upgrade or wait might find the iPhone 18 Pro lineup hard to ignore.

Cleaner front design, Dynamic Island may shrink or go
One of the most talked-about changes is on the front. Reports suggest Apple is testing under-display Face ID for the iPhone 18 Pro series. If this makes it to production, the familiar Dynamic Island could be removed entirely or significantly reduced.
The selfie camera is tipped to move to a small punch-hole in the top-left corner, giving users more uninterrupted screen space. Beyond that, the overall form factor is expected to remain close to the iPhone 17 Pro series, with flat edges and premium materials staying intact.
Rear design stays familiar, but camera tech gets smarter
At the back, Apple is unlikely to reinvent the wheel. The triple-camera layout on a raised module is expected to continue, though leaks point to subtle refinements in how the glass and frame blend together.
Camera upgrades, however, could be meaningful. Industry chatter hints at a mechanical iris, allowing variable aperture control for better depth and low-light shots. There’s also talk of a new stacked image sensor that could improve capture speed, dynamic range and overall image quality. New Pro-only colours, including darker purple or burgundy tones, are also being discussed.
A20 Pro chip could be a real game-changer
Performance is where the iPhone 18 Pro series may take a big leap. The upcoming A20 Pro chip is expected to be built on TSMC’s 2nm process, making it more powerful and efficient than current-generation silicon.
Apple is also reportedly exploring wafer-level chip integration, placing RAM closer to the CPU, GPU and Neural Engine. This approach could boost performance, improve thermal management and unlock stronger on-device AI features, while freeing up internal space for other components.
Bigger battery likely for iPhone 18 Pro Max
Battery life could see the most visible improvement on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Leaks suggest the phone may be slightly thicker to accommodate a larger battery, possibly around 5,100mAh. That could translate to noticeably longer endurance, though with a small trade-off in weight.

On the connectivity side, Apple is expected to introduce its in-house C2 modem with mmWave 5G support, reducing reliance on external suppliers and improving network performance in supported regions.
Launch timeline and price expectations
Apple is expected to stick to its usual September launch window for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Pricing remains unclear for now. While there’s no firm indication of a hike, rising component costs and recent price increases across the iPhone 17 lineup in India suggest pricing will be closely watched.
For Indian buyers, the iPhone 18 Pro series could land at a premium, especially if Apple positions these upgrades as a major generational leap.
