Just days before the buzz around IPL 2026 begins to peak, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has provisionally suspended former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Javon Searles as part of a wider anti-corruption investigation linked to the Bim10 T10 tournament in the Caribbean.
The ICC confirmed that Searles, along with team owner Chitranjan Rathod and cricket official Trevon Griffith, has been charged with multiple breaches of anti-corruption codes. All three have been suspended from all cricket-related activities with immediate effect while the investigation continues.

Charges Linked to Bim10 Tournament
According to the ICC’s official statement, the charges relate to alleged corrupt conduct during the Bim10 Tournament held in the 2023–24 season. The event falls under the jurisdiction of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Anti-Corruption Code.
Searles, who briefly played for Kolkata Knight Riders during the 2018 IPL season, faces four charges under the CWI Anti-Corruption Code. Rathod, the owner of the Titans team in the tournament, faces three charges, while Griffith has been hit with four charges under the CWI Code and an additional charge under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
Investigators believe the trio may have been involved in activities aimed at influencing the outcome or progress of matches during the tournament.
Key Allegations Explained
The charges include allegations of attempting to manipulate matches, encouraging others to participate in corrupt activities, and failing to cooperate fully with investigators.
One of the most serious accusations relates to Article 2.1.1 of the CWI Anti-Corruption Code, which deals with fixing or attempting to fix matches or influence any aspect of a game improperly.
Another charge under Article 2.1.4 claims the accused individuals may have encouraged players or support staff to engage in corrupt behaviour.
They are also accused of refusing or failing to cooperate with investigators looking into the matter.
Additional Charges Against Searles and Griffith
Both Searles and Griffith face an extra charge for allegedly failing to report approaches or invitations that could have led to corrupt activity during the tournament.
Griffith’s situation is even more serious. The ICC has also charged him under Article 2.4.7 of its Anti-Corruption Code for allegedly obstructing the investigation. Officials say he may have concealed or tampered with information that could have served as evidence.
Investigation Already Involved Another Player
The case appears to be part of a much larger anti-corruption probe in Caribbean cricket. Earlier this year, USA international Aaron Jones was also charged with five breaches of the ICC and CWI Anti-Corruption Codes connected to the same investigation.
Officials believe the probe is still ongoing and could potentially reveal more details in the coming months.

14 Days to Respond
The ICC confirmed that all three individuals have been provisionally suspended and given 14 days from March 11, 2026, to respond to the charges.
For now, the global cricket body has said it will not provide further comments until disciplinary proceedings are completed.
The timing of the suspension has drawn attention because it comes just before the start of IPL 2026 preparations, where discussions around integrity and anti-corruption measures are already under scrutiny.
