The Bait: Cheap Meals, Big Promises

The scam site, jioeat.in, lures users with insane discounts—like “₹500 meals for just ₹99!”—and claims to deliver in 15 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. It even slaps on logos of Pizza Hut and Burger King to seem real. But dig deeper, and the red flags pile up:

    • No UPI/Paytm—only card payments allowed.
    • Fake policies (Privacy, Terms) copied to appear trustworthy.
    • Aggressive YouTube ads and social media pushes to spread the trap.

    How the Scam Works

    1. You order, enter card details.
    2. OTP arrives—but hidden in the fine print? A much larger payment (thousands, not ₹99).
    3. You rush, enter the OTP… and poof—money’s gone.

Users on Twitter/X and Reddit report identical stories: “They deducted ₹8,000 instead of ₹99!” Others found the site vanishes post-payment, leaving no customer support.

Jio’s Response: “We Have Nothing to Do With This!”

Reliance Retail has clarified: Jio Eat is 100% fake. They’re taking legal action, but the site (and copycats) keep popping up.

    How to Stay Safe

    • Check URLs: Scammers use slight misspellings (e.g., “jioo-eat.com”).
    • Avoid “card-only” sites: Legit apps offer UPI, wallets.
    • Read OTPs carefully: If it mentions ₹5,000, don’t proceed.
    • Google reviews: No app? No ratings? Sketchy.

Bigger Problem: India’s Digital Fraud Epidemic

Finance Ministry data reveals 2.4 million digital fraud cases in FY25 so far, with ₹4,245 crore lost. Food delivery scams are just the tip of the iceberg.

    Bottom Line

If a deal feels off, it probably is. Stick to Zomato, Swiggy, or known brands—and never rush an OTP. Hungry for savings? Don’t let scammers eat your money instead.
