Lava Agni 4 Review: Design, Clean Android and Power-Packed Performance Under ₹25,000

Lava has been quietly sharpening its playbook in India, and the Agni series shows how far the brand has come. Riding on the momentum of the Agni 2 and lessons learned from Agni 3, the new Agni 4 steps into the crowded sub-₹25,000 ring with a confident mix of premium materials, clean software and dependable performance. After spending time with the phone, it’s clear this isn’t just a spec-sheet flex—it’s a well-rounded daily driver with a few rough edges.

Design & display: Looks and feels pricier than it is

The first impression is strong. Lava has gone with an aluminium alloy frame and a matte AG glass back—materials you usually expect on pricier flagships. The finish feels solid, resists fingerprints, and adds a sense of polish that’s rare at this price. There’s also an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, plus a customisable Action Key on the side. It’s handy for shortcuts, even if it feels a bit like a “because others have it” addition.

Up front sits a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel (1220×2712) with a 120Hz refresh rate. Colours pop, text looks crisp, and the peak brightness of up to 2,400 nits makes outdoor use a non-issue. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 adds basic protection. Simply put, this is one of the nicer screens you’ll find in this segment.

    Performance: Smooth, stable, and gaming-ready

Powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 5G chipset, paired with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. In everyday use—apps, browsing, multitasking—the experience is fluid and lag-free.

Gaming performance is equally solid. Titles like COD Mobile run smoothly on Very High graphics with Max frame rates. Lava’s 4,300mm² vapour chamber cooling does its job well; even after long sessions, the phone stays comfortable without noticeable throttling.

Battery & charging: No drama, just reliability

A 5,000mAh battery keeps things ticking through a full day of heavy use. Social media, streaming, calls—it handles it all without making you hunt for a charger by evening. When you do plug in, the bundled 66W fast charger takes the phone to about 50% in roughly 20 minutes, with a full charge in under an hour. Battery anxiety isn’t really a thing here.

    Cameras: Good, not class-leading

On paper, the camera setup looks strong: a 50MP main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a hefty 50MP selfie camera. Both front and rear cameras support 4K video at 60fps, which is still uncommon in this price bracket.

In real use, daylight shots from the main camera are sharp and detailed, though there’s a tendency to over-sharpen if you zoom in closely. Dynamic range is decent but can struggle in tricky lighting. Portrait mode, however, is a highlight, with reliable edge detection and pleasing background blur. The selfie camera delivers detailed, well-exposed shots that social media fans will appreciate.

Software: Clean Android with a side of AI

The Agni 4 runs a near-stock build of Android 15, free from bloatware. The interface feels light and responsive, and Lava’s promise of three Android updates and four years of security patches adds long-term value.

New this time is Vayu AI, Lava’s system-level AI assistant. The tools for productivity and learning are genuinely useful, but the AI pet widget feels half-baked—it can be finicky and needs better polish to feel intuitive.

    Price & availability

The Lava Agni 4 is available in a single 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant priced at ₹24,999. Colour options include Phantom Black and Lunar Mist. You can buy it via Amazon, Lava’s official website, and offline retailers. The device is from Lava International.

    Verdict: Easy to recommend

The Lava Agni 4 gets most things right. It looks and feels premium, performs reliably under pressure, and offers a clean Android experience that many rivals still struggle to match. Yes, the speakers could sound fuller and the AI widget needs refinement, but these are minor complaints in an otherwise strong package.

If you’re shopping under ₹25,000 and want a phone that feels classy, runs fast, and doesn’t drown you in bloatware, the Agni 4 deserves to be high on your shortlist.
