Mahindra’s upcoming Scorpio N Pickup is back in the spotlight after a fresh prototype was spotted testing on Indian roads without camouflage. The near-production test mule has revealed several design details, giving enthusiasts a clearer idea of what the upcoming lifestyle pickup could look like. While earlier reports hinted at a possible 2026 launch, multiple industry sources now suggest the vehicle is more likely to arrive in 2027.

The new pickup appears to be heavily based on the popular Scorpio N SUV, but with a more rugged and practical layout aimed at buyers looking for a mix of off-road capability, SUV comfort, and cargo-carrying ability.

    Scorpio N-Inspired Front Design

From the latest spy images circulating online, the front design closely mirrors the Scorpio N SUV. Mahindra seems to be retaining the bold styling that has already proven popular among Indian buyers.

The pickup features the same dual-barrel LED headlamp setup, a large black grille with chrome vertical slats, and a muscular bumper design. The fog lamps are positioned inside the familiar scorpion-sting styled chrome element, which has become a signature styling detail of the Scorpio N.

However, things change as you move toward the rear. Instead of the enclosed SUV body, the vehicle gets a large cargo bed, transforming the SUV platform into a practical pickup truck. At the back, the test mule shows vertically positioned rectangular tail lamps with integrated turn indicators, along with prominent Mahindra badging on the tailgate.

Interior Likely to Be Familiar Yet Slightly Sportier

Spy shots of the cabin indicate that Mahindra is sticking closely to the Scorpio N’s interior layout, which means buyers can expect a familiar dashboard design and feature set.

One noticeable change is the all-black cabin theme with red stitching, which gives the pickup a slightly sportier feel. In comparison, the regular Scorpio N SUV comes with a coffee-brown and black dual-tone interior.

Another small difference spotted in the prototype is the HVAC control layout. The pickup version appears to use three rotary climate control dials, whereas the Scorpio N SUV uses a two-dial arrangement. Apart from that, the pickup is expected to carry forward several modern features, possibly including a touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, and advanced safety systems.

Engine Options Expected from Scorpio N Lineup

Mechanically, the Scorpio N Pickup is expected to share its engines with Mahindra’s current SUV range. This would allow the brand to keep development costs under control while offering proven performance.

The pickup is likely to be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing around 200 hp and 380 Nm of torque, along with a 2.2-litre diesel engine generating approximately 130 hp and 300 Nm of torque.

Both engines are expected to be paired with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. Considering its rugged positioning, Mahindra may also offer four-wheel-drive capability on select variants.

A Lifestyle Pickup for Adventure Buyers

Unlike Mahindra’s existing Bolero Pik-Up range, which mainly targets commercial users, the Scorpio N Pickup is expected to cater to lifestyle buyers who want a tough, adventure-ready vehicle with practical cargo space.

Globally, lifestyle pickups like the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross have seen strong demand among off-road enthusiasts and outdoor travellers. Mahindra appears to be preparing its own contender in this segment.

If everything goes according to plan, the Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup could make its official debut around 2027, expanding Mahindra’s SUV-derived product lineup even further.
