Mahindra’s all-new three-row electric SUV, the XEV 9S, is almost ready to roll out—and the excitement is building fast. Days before its official unveiling at the brand’s ‘Scream Electric’ event in Bengaluru this week, fresh footage on Instagram has revealed multiple camouflaged prototypes arriving in the city, giving us the closest look yet at Mahindra’s first 7-seater born-electric SUV.
First Sighting Reveals New Styling Hints
The leaked video shows the XEV 9S wrapped in heavy zebra camouflage, but several design details still peek through. The front end clearly follows Mahindra’s new electric design language with vertically stacked headlamps and L-shaped LED elements, similar to the XEV 9e showcased earlier.

Around the back, the SUV seems to borrow inspiration from the XUV700, especially in the shape of the tail-lamps and tailgate. Another clip posted online shows flush door handles, a dual-tone ORVM setup with integrated indicators, and what appears to be aero-styled alloy wheels, though they’re mostly hidden under the wrap.
Expected Features: Big on Tech & Comfort
Mahindra is preparing the XEV 9S to compete directly with premium electric SUVs, so the feature list is expected to be loaded. Based on previous leaks and brand direction, the SUV may offer:
- Dual-zone climate control
- Powered & ventilated front seats
- Dolby Atmos sound
- Wireless charging
- 360-degree camera
- Front & rear parking sensors
- Level 2 ADAS safety technology
If these features make it to the production model, the XEV 9S could become one of the most feature-rich three-row electric SUVs in India.
Battery, Range & Platform Details
Built on Mahindra’s advanced INGLO EV platform, the XEV 9S is expected to carry forward the same battery packs as its smaller siblings:
- 59 kWh – MIDC range up to 656 km
- 79 kWh – MIDC range up to 542 km
These figures may vary slightly by the time final ARAI-certified numbers arrive. Mahindra is also likely to introduce an all-wheel-drive option later, giving performance-focused customers something more exciting to look forward to.
Expected Price Range in India
Given its size, tech, and positioning, industry buzz suggests Mahindra could price the XEV 9S in the ₹21 lakh to ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom) range. If that holds true, it would directly challenge upcoming three-row EVs from Tata and Hyundai, while offering strong value for families looking to go electric without compromising on space.
