Mahindra is gearing up to kick off 2026 with a major SUV launch. The Mahindra & Mahindra XUV 7XO, essentially a facelifted version of the popular XUV700, is confirmed to debut in India on January 5, 2026. With fresh styling, a tech-heavy cabin and advanced safety features, the new XUV 7XO signals Mahindra’s push to keep its flagship ICE SUV competitive in a rapidly evolving segment.
The SUV follows Mahindra’s new naming strategy and is expected to share design inspiration and technology with its electric sibling, the XEV 9S. Multiple spy sightings and official teasers over the past few months have already built strong buzz around the launch.

Design: Familiar Shape, Sharper Details
From what Mahindra has teased so far, the XUV 7XO retains the muscular stance of the XUV700 but adds sharper visual elements. Up front, the SUV is expected to sport inverted 7-shaped LED DRLs paired with a quad-LED projector headlamp setup, closely resembling the design language seen on the XEV 9S.
At the rear, Mahindra appears to be playing it safe. The connected LED tail-lamps from the XUV700 are likely to continue, albeit with subtle tweaks to keep things fresh without alienating existing buyers.
Cabin and Features: Big on Tech, Bigger on Comfort
Inside, the Mahindra XUV 7XO is set to make a strong statement. The biggest highlight is a triple-screen layout, which brings the infotainment system, digital instrument cluster and co-driver display together in a seamless setup. This alone puts the SUV on par with some premium offerings in the segment.
Another standout is the much-talked-about Boss Mode, which allows rear passengers to electronically push the front co-driver seat forward, freeing up extra legroom. It’s a feature aimed squarely at comfort-focused buyers.
Other expected highlights include:
- Two-spoke premium steering wheel
- Dual-tone interior theme
- Powered and ventilated front seats
- Auto-dimming IRVM
- Panoramic sunroof (likely to be retained)
- Level 2 ADAS, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and autonomous emergency braking
Powertrain: Proven Engines, No Surprises
Mechanically, Mahindra is expected to stick with the tried-and-tested setup. The XUV 7XO will likely continue with:
- 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine
- 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine
Both engines are expected to be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options. While electrification is clearly part of Mahindra’s long-term plan, the XUV 7XO remains a conventional ICE SUV for now.

What to Expect
With its refreshed design, feature-packed interior and advanced safety tech, the Mahindra XUV 7XO is shaping up to be more than just a mild facelift. Pricing and variant details will be revealed at launch, but expectations are that Mahindra will position it slightly above the outgoing XUV700.
As the January 5 launch date approaches, more official details are likely to drop, keeping the spotlight firmly on Mahindra’s flagship SUV.
