Mahindra is gearing up to kick off 2026 with a bang. The homegrown automaker has officially confirmed that the upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO will debut in India on January 5, and early teasers already show that this isn’t just a mild facelift of the XUV700. Instead, the XUV 7XO will introduce several first-in-segment features that are not available on the Mahindra XUV700.
Much like the XUV 3XO replaced the XUV300, Mahindra is adopting a similar rebranding strategy here. The XUV 7XO will sit above the XUV700 in terms of tech and cabin experience, borrowing heavily from the brand’s latest electric flagship, the Mahindra XEV 9S.

Here are four major upgrades that have been officially confirmed.
Triple-screen dashboard setup
This is easily the biggest talking point. The Mahindra XUV 7XO will feature a triple-screen layout on the dashboard — a first for Mahindra’s ICE SUV lineup.
The setup includes:
- A fully digital instrument cluster
- A large central touchscreen infotainment system
- A dedicated passenger-side display
All three screens measure 12.3 inches, creating a wide, tech-heavy cockpit similar to what we’ve already seen on the XEV 9S. The XUV700, in comparison, makes do with a dual-screen arrangement.
Powered ‘Boss Mode’ for rear-seat comfort
Rear-seat comfort is getting a serious upgrade. The XUV 7XO will offer Powered Boss Mode, allowing the second-row passenger seated behind the co-driver to electrically slide the front passenger seat forward at the touch of a button.
This feature significantly improves legroom and knee space, making the SUV more chauffeur-friendly — something that’s missing on the XUV700 but already present on the XEV 9S.
16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system
Music lovers will notice another big upgrade. The XUV 7XO will come equipped with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, replacing the 12-speaker Sony setup offered on the XUV700.
The system promises richer sound quality and better cabin acoustics, aligning the SUV with more premium rivals in the segment.
BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) support
Mahindra is also adding a practical tech feature for rear-seat passengers. The XUV 7XO will support BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) functionality, offering tablet docks mounted behind the front seats.
These docks are paired with 65W USB Type-C charging ports, allowing passengers to securely mount and fast-charge their own tablets — a feature again borrowed from the XEV 9S.

What this means for buyers
While the XUV 7XO is expected to retain the familiar petrol and diesel engine options from the XUV700, Mahindra is clearly positioning it as a more premium, tech-forward SUV. With features focused on in-cabin experience rather than mechanical changes, the XUV 7XO aims to appeal to buyers who want modern tech and added rear-seat comfort without switching to an EV.
More details, including variants and pricing, will be revealed at launch early next month.
