Mercedes-Benz India closed calendar year 2025 with total deliveries of 19,007 vehicles, a marginal dip from 19,565 units in 2024. While volumes softened slightly, the bigger story lies elsewhere: the German luxury carmaker recorded its highest-ever annual revenue in India, driven by strong demand for top-end, high-value models. The performance also pushed India into Mercedes-Benz’s top five global markets, underlining the country’s growing importance in the brand’s worldwide strategy.

    Top-end luxury drives growth

According to Mercedes-Benz India, sales momentum in 2025 was clearly led by flagship models. The S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach range and AMG performance cars stood out, with the top-end portfolio growing 11 per cent year-on-year. These premium models now account for 25 per cent of overall sales, reflecting a steady shift among Indian buyers towards exclusivity, bespoke features and higher performance.

The AMG division, in particular, delivered a strong showing. Performance-focused models posted a 34 per cent year-on-year growth in CY2025, highlighting a rising appetite for powerful luxury sedans and SUVs, including the iconic G-Class.

    Electric vehicles gain traction

Mercedes-Benz’s electric vehicle strategy continued to gather pace. The brand’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio grew by 12 per cent year-on-year, with EVs now contributing 20 per cent of total top-end sales in India. Notably, 70 per cent of BEVs sold during the year were priced between Rs. 1.25 crore and Rs. 3.1 crore, reinforcing the trend of premium EV adoption.

Models such as the EQS Sedan, EQS SUV, Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV and the all-electric G580 played a key role, with the EQS SUV emerging as the brand’s highest-selling luxury EV in the country.

    E-Class remains the crowd favourite

Among individual nameplates, the long wheelbase E-Class retained its position as India’s best-selling luxury car. Strong brand loyalty, rear-seat comfort and a chauffeur-friendly focus helped it consistently outperform rivals in its segment.

On the SUV side, demand remained healthy across the range, supported by models like the GLA, GLC, GLE, GLS, Mercedes-Maybach GLS and the AMG G63.

    Entry-level segment sees a dip

While premium and top-end models surged, the entry-level luxury segment told a different story. Sales in this category declined by 20 per cent year-on-year, reducing its share to 13 per cent of total volumes. In contrast, core luxury models accounted for 62 per cent of sales, while top-end vehicles made up the remaining 25 per cent.

Maybach GLS to be made in India

One of the most significant announcements from the brand is the local production of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS at its Pune facility. India will become the first market outside the United States to manufacture this ultra-luxury SUV, a move that signals growing confidence in domestic demand for high-end vehicles.

Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz India has confirmed plans to launch 12 new products in 2026. This includes the much-anticipated CLA electric sedan, which will debut the brand’s new MB.OS operating system.

Despite a slight dip in volumes, Mercedes-Benz’s 2025 performance shows that India’s luxury car market is evolving fast — with buyers increasingly willing to spend more on premium, performance-driven and electric models.
