Microsift Windows 11 Gets Very Important Feature Related To Notepad

After years of incremental improvements, the Windows built-in Notepad software is finally getting a feature that many users have requested: a word count. The business has incorporated a character count displaying the total amount of characters at the bottom of the Notepad in the current Canary channel test version of Windows 11, similar to how Windows provides word count in its Microsoft Word.

The most recent version adds a new character count display in the status bar, allowing users to keep track of the length of their document. When you select text, the status bar displays the character count for both the chosen content and the whole document. When no content is selected, the character count for the full page is displayed, giving a clear picture of how long the document is.

Furthermore, Microsoft is increasing Notepad’s accessibility for file edits. The improved version works flawlessly with File Explorer, allowing users to edit files straight from the context menu. Simply right-clicking on any file or several files brings up the “Edit with Notepad” option. This simplified update not only saves time, but it also makes editing easier for users.

The most recent modifications to Microsoft’s Notepad come after a year of tweaks to the tool. Aside from the word count and accessibility improvements, the software also adds a new autosave option that allows users to quit the Notepad without seeing the recurring save question. Microsoft has also included tabs, a dark mode, and a virtual fidget spinner for a fun and engaging break.

The current Windows 11 test release improves the widgets section in addition to the recent Notepad changes. Users will soon be able to prioritize their chosen widgets by completely burying the news stream, removing extraneous items, and focusing just on the information that is important to them.

Users may now select which account they want to use for Microsoft Start-powered widgets and feeds in the revised settings. This removes the prior restriction that restricted users to the account used for Windows sign-in and brings them in line with other app-powered widgets.

Users may modify their accounts by heading to the “Microsoft Start” settings inside the “Personalise your content” part of the widgets board settings. This will allow users to personalize their experience based on their choices. Furthermore, the new settings experience is not region-specific, solving a major user concern and guaranteeing a more personalized and smooth widget experience for everyone.

Notably, the new upgrades and features are now being tested, and while Microsoft may make changes, it is expected that they will be accessible to all Windows 11 users in early 2024.
