Patna is gearing up for a busy Wednesday with the counting of Bihar Assembly Election 2025 votes set to begin at 8 AM. To keep things smooth around the city, the Patna Traffic Police has issued a strict advisory for November 14—complete with diversions, restrictions, and a few important do’s and don’ts for commuters.
If you’re heading out tomorrow, you’ll definitely want to take a quick look before planning your route.
Traffic Plan in Force From 5 AM
The special traffic arrangement will stay active from 5 AM until the counting process wraps up. Police have clearly stated that the area around AN College—the main counting centre—will remain heavily restricted throughout the day.
Only essential vehicles will be allowed. This includes ambulances, fire tenders, judicial vehicles, vote-counting vehicles, and authorised pass-holders. Everyone else has been advised to avoid the stretch completely.

Major Restrictions Around AN College
A big part of the plan focuses on cutting down congestion near the college, where movement is expected to peak once counting trends start coming in.
Here’s what’s off-limits:
- Rajapur Bridge (Boring Road) to Hartali Chowk/Bailey-Boring Road crossing: Vehicular movement will be blocked on this entire stretch.
- Commercial vehicles from Patliputra Golambar towards AN College: Not allowed.
- Vehicles from Bailey-Boring Road and Hartali Chowk: Can travel only up to Tapasya intersection.
If you’re coming from Patliputra or Kurji, you’ll have to stop at Pani Tanki intersection—that’s the final point allowed before the restricted zone begins.
Public Transport Strongly Recommended
The administration doesn’t want Patna’s roads choked on counting day. So, they’re pushing residents to use public transportation as much as possible. With diversions in place, it’ll save time, fuel, and frustration.
Three-Tier Security in Place
Given the high-stakes election and political buzz, a three-layer security system has been deployed around the counting centre. Officials say this will ensure a peaceful and fair counting process.
Exit polls so far suggest a possible comeback for the Nitish Kumar-led NDA. Most projections show the Mahagathbandhan falling short of the 100-seat mark. With the political atmosphere heating up, heavy footfall near the counting centre is expected—which makes the traffic advisory all the more crucial.

- Stick to diversions set by the police.
- Use public transport whenever possible.
- Plan travel early to skip long delays.
Patna is expected to stay busy throughout the day, but following the advisory should help residents move around with fewer headaches.
