PM Modi at National Creator Award showed a sharp wit on Friday as he presented the first-ever National Creators Award at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Trained in Indian classical music and folk music, playback singer Maithili Thakur was announced the winner of ‘Cultural Ambassador of The Year’.
PM Modi handed the award to Maithili Thakur and asked her to show her singing talent to the audience.
He said: “Kuch suna hi do, log meri baate sun ke thak jaate hain (Why don’t you sing something? People get tired of listening to me all the time.)
Maithili accepts PM Modi’s request and says, “Bilkul sir (Of course, sir)”.PM Modi quipped, “Achha thak jaate hai na? (So you accept that they do get tired?).”
Thakur said, “No…I meant I will sing, of course”.
