Several farmers from the Chausa hamlet in the district held a demonstration outside the thermal power plant’s building site. They called for fairer compensation for the land acquired and jobs for young people. A fight broke out when police arrived and attempted to scatter the protesting farmers. Police has to charge as per the Patna High Court’s orders.
Numerous footage of the altercation is viral on social media. The videos showed numerous farmers—including women—being thrashed by the police.
According to a senior police official, more than 20 police officers were hurt in the incident and were taken to nearby hospitals. Following the social media dissemination of recordings showing police abusing farmers, the opposition aimed at the administration.
The Congress spokesperson, Asit Nath Tiwari, referred to the BJP as a “farmer’s foe.” With the BJP in power, he declared that farmers would inevitably have to deal with the government’s fury. The interests of farmers are vehemently opposed by those relinquishing vast areas of land to China.”
Speaking for the Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD), Mrityunjay Tiwari described the police operation as “barbaric” and said that even women were not exempt.
