It hasn’t even been a full day since Rajinikanth’s much-awaited action drama Coolie hit the big screen, and pirates have already struck.
By noon on August 14, high-quality and low-res copies of the Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed film were everywhere – from shady torrent sites like Tamilrockers, Movierulz, Filmyzilla to Telegram channels. “Coolie movie download” even started trending online, putting the movie’s theatrical run in danger.
Pirates Waste No Time
Fans lined up outside theatres this morning for Coolie’s grand release. But just a few hours later, illegal uploads – some in crisp 1080p HD, others in grainy 240p – began popping up on notorious piracy websites.
Telegram wasn’t far behind, with dozens of channels sharing download links, making the leak spread like wildfire.

The Story Behind Coolie
Coolie stars Rajinikanth as Deva, a former gold smuggler who sets out to reclaim his lost empire using stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches. The film also features Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, and Shruti Haasan in pivotal roles.
Critics are loving the hero-villain face-off. News18 Showsha gave it 4 stars, calling Nagarjuna the “perfect antagonist” to stand toe-to-toe with Rajinikanth.
Why Movie Piracy is More Dangerous Than You Think
Downloading Coolie from torrent sites might sound tempting, but in India, it’s illegal and punishable. Under copyright laws, piracy can land you with a ₹2 lakh fine or even jail time.
And it’s not just a legal risk – cybersecurity experts warn these piracy sites are often stuffed with malware, spyware, and phishing links. Clicking the wrong ad could mean hacked accounts or stolen personal data.

The Real Damage
Every pirated download means money lost for hundreds of people – from stars and directors to technicians and stunt teams. And let’s be honest: most pirated versions are a mess – bad audio, fuzzy visuals, and annoying watermarks ruin the cinematic magic.
That’s why the film’s team and many fans are pleading: “Support the movie. Watch it in theatres. Don’t promote piracy.”
