As they danced and bathed in spirituality on the auspicious day of Rath Yatra in Puri, thousands of devotees had one chant on their lips—Jai Jagannath.
Devotion is in the air now, and the entire stretch of Bada Danda is alive with the dreams and aspirations that join worshippers with Lord Jagannath and his siblings, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. The ceremonies related to the Lord’s yearly trip began at Puri Srimandir early in the morning.
Devotees waited with bated breath as the servitors carried out the three deities- Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra- one after the other in the ceremonial pahandi. It is a magnificent display that combines religious devotion as the deities are taken to their various chariots for their annual journey to Gundicha temple.
Despite the heat and humidity, a sea of worshippers gathered on the Bada Danda to see Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Balabhadra on their separate chariots.
It is the thread of faith that binds believers to the Lord of the Universe since it is the unique occasion when Mahaprabhu leaves his dwelling to provide darshan to millions of devotees.
