Realme has officially confirmed a major camera upgrade for its upcoming smartphones. Both the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro Plus will feature a 200-megapixel main camera, placing the devices firmly in the spotlight ahead of their January 6 launch. The brand has also revealed key details about sensors, zoom capabilities and video recording, giving a clearer picture of what users can expect. 200MP Camera Confirmed for Both Models
According to Realme, both phones will use the Samsung HP5 sensor for the primary camera. This is a 1/1.56-inch sensor paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens, aimed at delivering sharper details and better low-light performance.

The company says the 200MP camera will support full-pixel auto zoom along with 2x lossless zoom, allowing users to crop without losing clarity — a feature that’s becoming increasingly important for everyday photography.
Triple Camera Setup on Realme 16 Pro Plus
While the main sensor is common across both devices, the camera layouts differ slightly.
The Realme 16 Pro Plus will come with a telephoto camera using the Samsung JN5 sensor, in addition to an ultra-wide lens. This gives the Pro Plus a full triple-camera setup with multiple focal lengths.
The standard Realme 16 Pro, on the other hand, will feature an ultra-wide camera alongside the 200MP main sensor, offering a more streamlined dual-camera approach.
Focus on Colour Accuracy and Image Processing
Realme has also confirmed TÜV Rheinland Luma colour image certification for both phones. This certification is said to improve skin tones, depth of field, lighting balance and shadow details, addressing common issues seen in high-megapixel smartphone cameras.
Strong Video Features, Especially on Pro Plus
On the video front, the Realme 16 Pro Plus appears to have a clear edge. It will support 4K HDR video recording across multiple focal lengths and also offer 4K video at 60fps. The front-facing camera on the Pro Plus will also be capable of recording 4K 60fps video, which should appeal to vloggers and content creators.
Realme hasn’t yet detailed the full video specs for the standard Pro model, but more information is expected closer to launch.
