Another Indian student met an unexpected death in the United States. According to sources, 20-year-old Paruchuri Abhijit the student belonged to Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district. He was allegedly assassinated, and his body was discovered inside an abandoned car in a jungle on March 11. His killing followed a series of recent incidents in which students were subjected to savage attacks. Some of which resulted in death.

The Times of India quoted family members as saying that Abhijit was Paruchuri Chakradhar and Srilakshmi’s only child. He had excelled in school since he was a child. When he won an acceptance at Boston University for further education, his mother was hesitant to send her children abroad. However, with considerable work, Abhijit persuaded her mother to study overseas.

As of now, the cause of his murder is unknown. However, local media sources indicate the Indian student was killed over a monetary dispute with his university classmates. His laptop was also reported stolen.

It is worth noting that attacks on Indians, particularly students, have increased dramatically in recent years. This was the seventh incident where an Indian student died in America this year. Earlier in January, Neel Acharya, 19, a student who had been reported missing. He was discovered dead on the Purdue University West Lafayette campus. Acharya was a U.S. citizen.

According to authorities, no trauma or severe injuries were discovered during Acharya’s autopsy, and “no foul play is suspected at this time”. A homeless drug addict in Georgia murdered Vivek Saini, a 25-year-old Indian student, in January of this year. Similarly, another Indian student, Syed Mazahir Ali, originating from Hyderabad and seeking a Master’s in computer technology, was pursued and savagely attacked by three.

What US Govt. says on the incidents?

Following several assaults on Indian students in the U.S., the Biden administration’s top envoy responded by assuring the Indian diaspora that the U.S. government is making efforts to improve safety. Eric Garcetti, U.S. Ambassador to India, acknowledged the “unfortunate” deaths of Indian students and emphasized that the President Joe Biden-led administration would work to make the country a great location to study while prioritizing safety.

“Our hearts are always moved when there is a tragedy, whether it is the loss of a life or violence, no matter who it is,” Ambassador Garcetti remarked on the sidelines of the incident.

Furthermore, he acknowledged that disasters may occur anywhere in the globe but emphasized that the United States had long been a preferred educational destination for Indian students. Underscoring the recent deaths, Garcetti stated that it was the responsibility of the American government to collaborate with their Indian counterparts to protect the safety of the diaspora in the United States.
