The much-talked-about third instalment of the Ragini MMS franchise appears to have hit a roadblock even before cameras could roll. A new report suggests that Ragini MMS 3, which was set to feature Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead, has been put on hold after the director was removed due to scheduling issues.

What reportedly went wrong
According to a report by Variety India, filmmaker Sahir Raza, who was initially roped in to direct the project, has been dropped by the makers. The decision was reportedly taken after a clash between the film’s timeline and Raza’s existing commitments.
Sources cited in the report claim that Raza is currently working as a showrunner on a Netflix series. Following a recent mandate by the streamer, showrunners are required to be present on set daily, making it difficult for him to juggle both projects simultaneously.
Makers hunt for a new director
With the director no longer attached, the team behind Ragini MMS 3 is now said to be looking for a replacement. However, insiders suggest that the film is unlikely to go on floors anytime soon, as the search for a new filmmaker could take time.
There has been no official confirmation yet from producer Ektaa Kapoor or Tamannaah regarding the delay or the reported changes behind the scenes.
A quick look at the Ragini MMS franchise
The Ragini MMS series began in 2011 with a found-footage-style horror film starring Rajkummar Rao and Kainaz Motivala. Its sequel, released in 2014, featured Sunny Leone and leaned more heavily into the erotic-horror space. Nearly a decade later, the third instalment was expected to revive the franchise with a fresh cast and a modern treatment.

Tamannaah Bhatia’s upcoming projects
Despite the uncertainty around Ragini MMS 3, Tamannaah’s work calendar remains busy. She will next be seen in the jungle-based horror film Vvan, co-starring Sidharth Malhotra, which is slated for a theatrical release on May 15, 2026.
The actress has also signed on for a biopic on Chitrapati V Shantaram, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi in the lead. The film will be directed by Abhijeet Deshpande and aims to introduce the legendary filmmaker’s legacy to a younger audience.
For now, fans eager to see Tamannaah in Ragini MMS 3 may need to wait a little longer, as the project’s future remains uncertain.
