Tata Motors is bringing back one of its most iconic nameplates today as the Tata Sierra 2025 finally hits the Indian market. The SUV, which has been teased, spotted and hyped for months, now joins Tata’s expanding line-up alongside the Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Harrier and Safari. With a modern design and a long list of features, the Sierra steps straight into the hotly contested mid-size SUV segment.
A Retro Icon Returns With a Modern Twist
The Sierra has always carried emotional value for Indian buyers, and Tata seems to know exactly how to bank on that nostalgia. The 2025 model gets a clean, futuristic redesign while still keeping the classic three-quarter glass area alive in a modern avatar.

The floating-roof look with a contrasting black band adds to the retro throwback, while details like the flush-glass surfaces, clamshell tailgate, and full-width LED lighting give it that premium, new-age SUV feel.
Tata has also revealed the complete colour palette ahead of launch — Bengal Rouge, Coorg Clouds, Munnar Mist, Pristine White, Pure Grey and Andaman Adventure — all paired with the signature black roof panel.
Stacked With Features Inside
Step inside and the Sierra feels like Tata’s most premium cabin yet. The brand’s Theatre Pro triple-screen setup dominates the dashboard, offering Horizon View displays for both driver and passenger. A 12-speaker JBL system with Dolby Atmos and the Sonic Shaft soundbar lift the overall experience even further.
A panoramic Panora Max sunroof, ambient lighting, floating armrests, wireless charging, and plush materials give the Sierra an upscale vibe. The front seats get ventilation, powered adjustment for both occupants, and three memory settings for the driver. Rear passengers get wide seating, lots of headroom and a flat floor.
Small touches like the auto-dimming IRVM, electronic parking brake with auto hold, adjustable thigh support and soft-touch dashboard panels round out the feature list.
Engine Options and Performance
The Sierra will be launched with multiple internal-combustion engine choices:
- 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol
- 1.5-litre Hyperion direct-injection turbo-petrol
- 1.5-litre diesel
Both manual and automatic transmissions are expected, along with Tata’s familiar terrain and drive modes. Boot space is expected to be around 500 litres, though Tata will confirm the number during the official announcement.
While the 2025 Sierra launches today with ICE engines, Tata has also confirmed that a fully electric Sierra EV is lined up for early next year.
Rivals in a Busy Segment
The mid-size SUV segment is currently dominated by the Hyundai Creta, but the Sierra enters the ring with quite a lineup to battle — Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Mahindra Thar Roxx, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor and even Tata’s own Curvv.
Expected Tata Sierra 2025 Price
Tata may shake things up with aggressive pricing. The Sierra is expected to start at around ₹12 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant and touch ₹22 lakh for the top models. Exact prices will be announced later today.

Why Sierra Matters
The Sierra is more than just another SUV launch — it marks the return of a cult favourite from the 1990s, now revived with tech, safety and styling that match today’s expectations. If Tata manages the pricing right, the Sierra could become one of the strongest new entrants of 2025
