Thane Horror: Convict of earlier rape-murder strikes again, kills neighbour’s child
A Chilling Repeat of Horror in Thane
In a gut-wrenching incident from Maharashtra’s Thane district, a man already accused in a rape-murder case has allegedly struck again—this time killing his seven-year-old neighbour.
The accused, a 33-year-old powerloom worker, raped and strangled the child in Bhiwandi on October 1 before stuffing her body in a gunny sack and fleeing. Police later nabbed him the same night while he was preparing to escape to Madhubani, Bihar.
How The Child Went Missing
According to police, the young girl had stepped out of her house to relieve herself but never returned. Her worried parents searched everywhere and eventually spotted the small bucket she had taken, lying outside the accused’s locked house.
When they broke open the door, they were met with the horrifying sight of their daughter’s body stuffed inside a sack.
The Accused’s Criminal Past
Shockingly, this wasn’t his first crime. The man had earlier raped and murdered a six-year-old girl in 2023 and was jailed in Thane Central Jail. In August this year, he managed to escape police custody during a court hearing and went underground.
Instead of staying away, he quietly returned to the same neighbourhood just days before committing this latest crime.
Police Action & Charges
A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the POCSO Act, police confirmed. Authorities say the man’s repeated offences highlight serious lapses in security after his earlier escape.
He is currently in police custody and is expected to face trial for both cases.
Why This Case Matters
This shocking incident has sparked anger and fear across Bhiwandi and Thane. Many are questioning how a repeat offender managed to flee custody and then return to commit another heinous crime in the same locality.
