Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee will attend a meeting of opposition leaders organized by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday in Patna.
On Thursday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared that the opposition will battle the BJP “as a family.” After meeting RJD Chairman Lalu Yadav and Bihar Deputy Chairman Minister Tejashwi Yadav, she made the remarks. She also met former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi. On Thursday evening, CM Banerjee landed in Patna for the Opposition’s massive gathering on Friday.
“I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Bihar.” Laluji is someone I greatly admire. I’m glad I met him, Rabri Devi, and Tejashwi Yadav. He is a top executive. He was in jail and the hospital for several days, but Laluji Yadav is still well and ready to battle the BJP.”
At least 18 “like-minded” Opposition groups are expected to join Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s June 23 mega meeting to establish a single political strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. While Mamata Banerjee landed on Thursday, NCP President Sharad Pawar is scheduled to arrive in Patna on Friday morning.
Banerjee and TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will be at a meeting of opposition leaders organized by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday in Patna. Earlier in the day, TMC spokesperson Riju Datta declared, “Desh Ko Bachana Hai, BJP Ko Bhagana Hai (have to annihilate the BJP and save the country).”
Akhilesh Yadav, Nitish Kumar, Stalin, Arvind Kejriwal, and top leaders from Congress and other parties will also attend the conference to deliberate on the strategy for the 2024 elections. However, the foundation for Opposition unity is now at risk as two national parties — the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress — are poised to clash over the Centre’s Delhi services law. According to reports, Kejriwal has stated that he will leave the Opposition Unity Platform if the Congress does not back the AAP’s opposition to the Centre’s ordinance on administrative officers’ postings and transfers.
