WhatsApp New Features: Last year, WhatsApp released several noteworthy features, which include editing messages, using multiple accounts on a single phone. Now the company is ready to add five new features soon, including AI Photo Editing, International UPI Payments, etc. Official details about these updates are yet to announce.
Share Files like Apple’s Air-Drop
WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will make it simple for users to share files with others. This feature will allow users to share files up to 2GB, which is similar to Apple Air-Drop, Nearby Share and Quick Share.
- This feature is intended to ensure end-to-end encryption of user data while streamlining the process of instantaneous file sharing.
- This new feature will address problems with low-quality images and videos in traditional chat-based file sharing.
- You could start the sharing by choosing “Share Files with Nearby People” option, possibly involving a shake gesture.

International UPI Payments
‘AssembleDebug‘ on X revealed that WhatsApp is developing a new feature to allow International UPI Payments in India. This feature is term as “International Payment” which will soon be added to the UPI settings section.
- The uniqueness of this is that, “users will be able to use UPI directly under “International UPI Payment” section from WhatsApp to authorize foreign payments for a maximum of 3 months.”
- Limited beta users may have access to the upcoming international payment feature.
AI Photo Editing & Chatting
According to rumors, Mark Zuckerberg-owned Meta AI will be integrated into WhatsApp which allow users to communicate and ask questions with AI Chatbot via the Search Bar.
- The aim of this feature is to help users find the answers they need quickly, the app will suggest questions to them.
- Additionally, WhatsApp working on AI that will help in photo editing before sharing them with others.
- With the help of this feature users will be able to add artistic effects, change the background of the photos, and do a lot more.
Username for Login
It is expected that WhatsApp will soon roll out a new feature that will enable users to personalize the app’s usernames. It’s similar to Insta, Twitter Username. Signal and Telegram already have this feature.
- After the launches of this feature, users will be able to personalize their WhatsApp usernames and communicate with others without disclosing their phone number.
DP Privacy
In an effort to improve user privacy, WhatsApp has roll out a new feature that will forbid users from taking screenshots of other users’ profile pictures.
- When users try to take a screenshot of any profile picture, an error message saying, “Can’t take a screenshot due to app restrictions,” will pop-up.
