A significant fire that started at an electric bike store in Secunderabad late on Monday night spread to a hotel placed above it, killing at least seven people and injuring another 13, according to the police.

Later, another victim with burn injuries died, bringing the total number of fatalities to eight, according to Chandana Deepti, DCP, North Zone, Hyderabad.

The Reason And Theories Behind The Incident

A short circuit is thought to have started the fire in the electric bike dealership that led to the explosion of one vehicle after another, according to preliminary inquiry. The fire brigade was informed by hotel workers and visitors who saw the fire and smoke.

According to the police, a fire started in the electric scooter showroom at about 9 p.m. and quickly spread to the rest of the space. The Ruby Hotel, which is located above the shop and was home to at least 25 people, was quickly affected by the fire and smoke.

Secunderabad Fire: Conditions Of Victims

Many of the people trapped in the hotel showroom were smothered. They got knocked out by the dense smoke that was pouring from the showroom. At least five of them were burned while they were unconscious. While some others caught fire and fled the hotel rooms, according to the authorities.

Two of the injured died of burns after being sent to the Gandhi Hospital right afterwards. At least four other people’s conditions are thought to be grave.

Rescue Operation On Full Fledge

As many as five firefighters and police rescue squads were to the scene as soon as they received the information. Fire officer Mohan Rao stated, “We were able to save 10 persons who were trapped in the hotel rooms, while some others leaped out of the hotel to save themselves.”

Minister Visit To Site 

State minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav went to the scene and oversaw the rescue efforts. Alongwith Hyderabad police commissioner C V Anand. Also director general of the fire department Sanjay Kumar Jain, regional fire officer V Papaiah, and other high officials.

Srinivas Yadav called it a terrible occurrence and said all the injured were receiving the finest care. He said that a high-level probe had been conducted into the occurrence. “Those who were staying in the lodge were folks who had travelled to the city from various locations for business.”
