The motion by Congress MLAs comes amid a show of strength by supporters of state Congress chief Pratibha Singh ahead of a meeting in Shimla, Himachal.
Shimla: After a day of wrangling over who would be the state’s chief minister, the 40 Congress MLAs in Himachal Pradesh passed the party’s standard one-line resolution authorizing the “high command” to make a decision on Friday evening. The judgment is expected to be made by Sunday.

This leaves Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi mostly in charge, with Priyanka Gandhi campaigning actively in Himachal alongside new national president Mallikarjun Kharge.
The MLAs met with central overseers Rajeev Shukla, Bhupinder Hooda, and Bhupesh Baghel in attendance to coordinate. They spoke with each MLA to see who has the most support.

“We will give our report to the central leadership tomorrow. And they may choose anybody they want,” Mr Shukla said after the meeting. He emphasized on the absence of infighting.
The resolution, on the other hand, came after a show of force by supporters of state Congress chief Pratibha Singh before of the gathering in Shimla, her family’s stronghold. A swarm of party activists chanted slogans and even blocked Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s car, asking that Pratibha Singh, a three-time MP and the wife of late leader Virbhadra Singh, an ex-royal, “deserves the top seat.”
Other candidates in the contest include Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Mukesh Agnihotri. Both of whom have support in locations outside of Shimla. Because the summit was held in Shimla today, support for Pratibha Singh dominated the headlines.

Keeping the optics in mind, the party sat all three next to Mr Shukla during the media encounter.
Mr Shukla stated that Pratibha Singh welcomed the MLAs to the meeting. The motion was submit by Mr Agnihotri and seconded by Mr Sukhu. And the MLAs raised their hands to pass it by consensus.
