Avtar Saini, ex Intel head died after a speeding car hit him when he was cycling in Navi Mumbai.
68-year-old Avtar Saini was Killed when he was riding his bicycle with other cyclist on Wednesday Morning. The accident happened around 5:50 am on the Palm Beach Road in Navi Mumbai.
How Intel Head Died?
According to other cyclist, the cab hit Saini’s cycle, and his cycle frame got struck by the cab’s front wheel. This led Mr. Saini dragged to some distance. Even though he was wearing a helmet, he got many injuries and was rushed to the hospital. However, the doctors declared him dead.
The driver tried to escape, but some cyclists caught him and handed him to the police. During interrogation, the driver told the police that he was dozed off. The reason driver gave for the same was – “he was driving all night, due to which he lost his control and hit Saini’s cycle.”
Police registered an FIR against cab Driver Rishikesh Khade under various Indian Penal Code sections for rush driving and causing death due to lack of care. However, he was not arrested as the accident was not intentional.
Mr. Saini’s Son and Daughter, who live in the US, were informed about the incident, and also to the relatives who claimed his body from the hospital.
Who was Avtar Saini?
Avtar Saini was the vice president of Intel company from 1982 to 2004. He was living in the Mumbai Chembur area alone. Few years back, his wife died due to illness after which he permanently shifted to Mumbai from US.
He helped set up the Intel Research and Development Centre in India. Also, he is known for his contribution to developing several Intel processors, microprocessors, and Pentium processors. He left Intel in 2004 and joined a smaller company, Montalvo Systems, where he worked as a director of operations from 2005 to 2008.
