Man stabbed in Bhiwandi after heated fight
A 27-year-old man was left critically injured after being stabbed multiple times during a violent altercation in Maharashtra’s Thane district, police said on Wednesday.
The incident happened late on October 5, around 10:30 PM, near a gym at Anjur Phata in the Bhiwandi area. According to officials from Narpoli Police Station, the accused suspected that the victim’s cousin had kidnapped his sister — a misunderstanding that spiraled into a brutal attack.

What started as a heated argument soon turned into a violent assault. Police said the accused lost his temper, pulled out a knife, and stabbed the victim multiple times, leaving him badly wounded. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he’s currently receiving treatment.
“The accused believed his sister had been taken away by the victim’s cousin. During the argument, he attacked the victim with a knife,” an officer from Narpoli police told reporters.
A case has been registered under attempt to murder and other relevant sections, and police teams are working to track down the attacker.
In another case: Palghar man killed for objecting to river poisoning
In a separate horrifying case, a 55-year-old man in Palghar was beaten to death after he confronted three men for dumping poison into a river to kill fish.
The victim, Navasu Ladkya Phuphane from Saturli village in Mokhada taluka, objected to the accused polluting the Vaitarna river. Enraged, the trio allegedly attacked him and his son with wooden sticks.
Police said the accused — Jitendra Patil (31), Ritesh Patil (23), and Pramod Warghade (25) — then tied up the victim, dragged him to the village, and continued assaulting him until he died.
SP Yatish Deshmukh confirmed that all three men were arrested within 12 hours of the crime after multiple police teams were deployed.

Authorities on alert
Both incidents — one in Bhiwandi and another in Palghar — highlight a troubling rise in local disputes turning violent across Maharashtra. Police say investigations are underway, and they’ve assured strict action against those responsible.
