Rajvir Jawanda Dies After 11 Days on Ventilator
Popular Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda has passed away after battling for life for 11 days on a ventilator. The 35-year-old artist had met with a serious road accident near Baddi in Himachal Pradesh on September 27 and had been on life support since then.
Rajvir breathed his last at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, on Wednesday (October 8). The news has sent shockwaves through the Punjabi music and film industry, with fans and fellow artists pouring in heartfelt tributes on social media.
The Tragic Accident
According to reports, Rajvir was on his way to Shimla when he lost control of his motorcycle near Baddi in Solan district. He sustained severe head and spinal injuries in the crash.
He was initially taken to a local hospital, where he reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest before being shifted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali. Despite continuous treatment by neurosurgeons and critical care teams, Rajvir’s condition remained extremely critical. Doctors noted minimal brain activity, and his neurological response showed little improvement over the following days.
Outpouring of Support from Punjabi Industry
The Punjabi entertainment world stood united during Rajvir’s fight for life. Prominent stars like Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa, Ammy Virk, Gippy Grewal, and Kanwar Grewal shared messages of support and prayers.
At one of his concerts in Hong Kong, Diljit Dosanjh paused his performance to lead the audience in prayers for Rajvir’s recovery, saying, “Dua mei asar hai” — meaning, “There is power in prayers.”
Rajvir’s mother had also shared that many artists and friends from the industry came forward to help the family with medical expenses and emotional support.
Who Was Rajvir Jawanda?
Born in Punjab, Rajvir Jawanda made his mark in the Punjabi music scene with his soulful and energetic voice. Some of his most loved songs include Tu Dis Painda, Khush Reha Kar, Sardari, Surname, Afreen, Landlord, Down to Earth, and Kangani.
Apart from music, Rajvir also dabbled in films, acting in Subedar Joginder Singh (2018), Jind Jaan (2019), and Mindo Taseeldarni (2019). His strong presence and charming personality made him a fan favourite both on stage and on screen.
He is survived by his wife and two young children.
