Previous registration numbers will not be accepted for the current application process.

India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Important Dates

India Post GDS Application Fee

Candidates applying under the general category will have to pay an application fee of ₹100. The fee exemption applies to female candidates, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and Transwomen applicants.

Applicants should check their eligibility and category details carefully before submitting the form to avoid problems later in the recruitment process.

What Details Will Be Required?

Once the application process opens on September 2, candidates will be able to submit their details and required documents. Several basic details, including the candidate’s name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, gender and category, will be fetched automatically from the registration details.

Candidates should therefore make sure that the information entered during registration is accurate. A mismatch in personal or educational details can create unnecessary trouble during document verification.

How Will India Post Select GDS Candidates?

Unlike many government recruitments, the India Post GDS selection process does not involve a conventional written examination. Candidates will be shortlisted through a system-generated merit list.

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks or grades obtained in Class 10, with grades converted into marks wherever applicable. The marks will be calculated up to four decimal places, making accurate academic records particularly important for applicants.

DigiLocker Documents May Be Verified

After candidates are shortlisted, India Post may verify their educational and other supporting documents through platforms and official databases such as DigiLocker, API Setu and the concerned education board’s official website.

Candidates are therefore advised to keep their DigiLocker account ready and ensure that important documents, including the Class 10 marksheet and applicable caste or PwBD certificates, are available and correctly updated.

India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: What Candidates Should Do Now

Candidates interested in the India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 should complete the registration within the prescribed deadline instead of waiting until the final days. Since a fresh registration is required for Schedule-II, applicants should not rely on registration numbers generated during previous recruitment schedules.

The application submission facility will become available from September 2, so candidates should keep their educational certificates and other required documents ready in advance.

With 23,757 GDS vacancies announced, the recruitment is likely to attract a large number of applicants. Candidates should rely on the official India Post recruitment portal for the latest instructions, vacancy details and application-related updates.
