Samsung’s One UI 9 rollout is officially underway, bringing a fresh batch of Galaxy AI features to compatible smartphones. But there’s an important catch: getting the One UI 9 update does not automatically mean your Galaxy phone will receive every new AI feature.
Samsung began the stable One UI 9 rollout on September 16, starting with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The software had already debuted on Samsung’s latest foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
The update introduces several AI-focused improvements, including My FanCam, smarter Now Nudge suggestions and more personalised Now Brief cards. Availability, however, depends on the Galaxy model, region and in some cases language or supported apps.

What’s New With Galaxy AI in One UI 9?
One of the more interesting additions is My FanCam. Instead of manually cropping a video to keep someone in the frame, users can select a person and let Galaxy AI track them throughout the recorded clip.
The feature works inside Samsung’s Gallery app and can reframe footage into different aspect ratios, making it particularly useful for videos intended for social media. Samsung notes that My FanCam requires a Samsung Account and may not work with every video or subject.
Now Brief is also becoming more customisable. One UI 9 allows users to create personalised cards around information such as weather, health and videos, giving them more control over what appears in their daily brief.
Now Nudge, meanwhile, gets smarter contextual suggestions. It can recommend relevant actions based on what appears on the screen and can surface suggestions across supported apps and conversations. Samsung says availability can differ depending on the country, region, language and supported application.
Call Brief is another feature included on select flagship Galaxy devices, showing useful contextual information on the call screen.
Which Galaxy Phones Support the New One UI 9 AI Features?
According to the currently reported compatibility list, Samsung’s newer flagship phones receive the widest selection of these One UI 9 Galaxy AI upgrades.
The Galaxy S26, S25 and S24 flagship series support My FanCam, Now Nudge, custom Now Brief cards and Call Brief. Their FE counterparts — Galaxy S26 FE, Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S24 FE — support My FanCam, Now Nudge and custom Now Brief cards, but Call Brief is not listed as supported.
On the foldable side, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Flip 8, Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z TriFold, Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are listed as supporting all four features.

What About the Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5?
This is where the difference between receiving Galaxy AI generally and receiving these particular One UI 9 AI upgrades matters.
The Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy S23 FE are not listed as supporting My FanCam, Now Nudge, custom Now Brief cards or Call Brief in the current compatibility breakdown. The same applies to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
That does not mean these phones have no Galaxy AI capabilities. Samsung’s broader support documentation lists the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 among devices capable of using certain Galaxy AI functionality after software updates. The exact feature set varies by device and software version.
One UI 9 Eligibility Doesn’t Guarantee Every AI Feature
That distinction is worth remembering as One UI 9 reaches more Galaxy devices.
A phone may be eligible for the operating system update while still missing certain AI functions. Hardware requirements, device generation and Samsung’s individual feature support all play a role.
Samsung itself says Galaxy AI availability can vary depending on the device model, language and region. So users should not assume that two phones running the same One UI version will necessarily offer the same AI experience.
For Galaxy S24, S25 and S26 flagship owners — along with owners of Samsung’s newer Fold and Flip models — One UI 9 brings the most complete package of these new AI tools. Older flagships can still receive One UI and Galaxy AI improvements, but their feature set may be more limited.
